Inclusive Programs

We offer inclusive wellness opportunities (Bang the Drum*), as well as inclusive baseball and volleyball. 

Participants can schedule a time with a coach to set goals and create a personalized workout plan. Coaches will help train the participant on adaptive and standard equipment usage. 

*Bang The Drum is a group exercise class that combines traditional aerobic movements with the powerful beat and rhythm of the drums. Participants are able to engage their whole mind and body in this lively class. 

Inclusive Baseball and Volleyball are offered seasonally.

Y Buddies is a program that connects individuals with physical, developmental and intellectual disabilities with volunteers to participate together in programs, classes and activities at the Y! This support program is designed to foster friendships, build confidence and join those with common interests to participate in meaningful activities, all while creating memories!
Note: This program is based on availability of volunteers and buddies.

The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne has partnered with Turnstone, Easter Seals ARC and Camp Red Cedar to provide social events for those with diverse abilities in our community. Siblings and friends are welcome to attend. For information on upcoming events, contact Hannah Brooks, Adaptive Services Coordinator.

Our sensory friendly events focus on providing inclusive opportunities for people of all abilities, while being aware of sensitivities to various stimuli. Examples of our events include sensory friendly baking and crafting.
