Outdoor Pool

Q: What dates will the pool open?
A: The outdoor pool will be open Tuesday, May 28 - Sunday, September 1.

Q: What is the capacity of the outdoor pool? 
A:  The current capacity of the outdoor pool is 250 people.

Q: Where do I check in to the outdoor pool? 
A:  For open swim, enter from the outside gate. *For Adult Lap Swim, enter from the inside of the YMCA. 

Q: I am a member. Can I bring a guest? 
A:  Yes, The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne allows guests. Please see our Guest Policy for details.
*Please Note: If you are bringing a non-member guest, please first stop at our membership services desk before heading to the outdoor pool.

Q: Will there be chairs/ lounge chairs this year? 
A:  Chairs will be available on a first come basis.

Q: Will the slide be open? 
A:  Yes, the slide will be open during pool hours, unless demand is low.

Q: Will Snack Shack be selling food this year? 
A:  Yes, the Snack Sack will be open during pool hours.

Q: Can I bring my own food? 
A:  Yes, you can bring your own food. All food and non-water drinks must be consumed in the food court. 

Q: When can my child take the swim test? 
A:  Swim tests are offered during adult swim/safety breaks.

Q: My child has already passed the swim test. Where can I get their green band? 
A:  Wrist bands will be given out at the Snack Shack and while entering for the session. 

Q: What is a safety break? 
A:  Safety breaks occur when capacity is reached and everyone must exit the water. At this time staff will check pool chemistry and staff/member safety. 

Q: At what temperature will the pool be open? 
A:  If the temperature at 11:30 am is under 70°F according to weather.com, the Outdoor pool will open at 2:00 pm. 

Q: Will you close the pool if there is bad weather? 
A:  The outdoor pool will close if there is a chance of severe weather greater than 70% according to weather.com. The pool will close for a minimum of 30 minutes following lightning or thunder. In the event of current or predicted inclement weather, the pool may be closed for the remainder of the day.
