YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne
Inclusiveness Policy
The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne has been in existence for over 150 years as it was established in 1858. Over these years, the YMCA movement has adapted to the many changes in our society.
One constant that has never changed is the YMCA is and always will be for all people. This commitment is supported by our mission statement, which states: “To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.”
It is the goal of the Board of Directors to give equal opportunity to all people who participate in the YMCA through employment, program participation, membership and volunteerism without regard to race, color, religion, gender, citizenship, genetic information, national origin, sexual orientation, economic status, age, disability or veteran status.
This statement continually affects all of our decision-making processes concerning the way we serve our community. It is the spirit of the YMCA that everyone has the opportunity to participate as we focus on building the character traits of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
